Obituary of Mary Jane Butler
Butler: Mary Jane
On April 25th, in her 90th year, Mary Jane Butler (nee MacKay) passed away peacefully in her home at FoxRun Retirement Residence. Mary Jane enjoyed much of her life with her late husband Edward James (Ted) Butler to whom she was married for over fifty-five years. Together they embraced the sunshine and enjoyed life and boating on the St. Lawrence River. They also enjoyed regular trips to Florida; all the while in pursuit of the very best fish and chips. Mary Jane also appreciated a good game of curling, hockey and always welcomed a euchre party. Mary Jane will be missed and remembered by her many friends and family (aka her “dearies”): her children, Jim Butler and his wife, Rosanne, Pam Butler, Doug Butler and his wife, Marilyn; her grandchildren, Courtney Butler, Melissa Butler and her fiancé, Mitch Sandford, Shannan Desjardins and her fiancé, James Davis, Tyler Desjardins, Justin Butler and his partner, Teila Bradfield; and her great-grandchildren, Nylah, Elloryn and Amaye Knudson, Marina Sandford and Macie Butler. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at FoxRun for their care and compassion and her many friends who kindly ensured she never missed a sporting event. A celebration of life will be held at the Gananoque Curling Club on Saturday, May 25th from 1 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anglican Church of Gananoque and Willowbank Cemetery.
