The Athens and Area Heritage Society remain stunned and saddened with the loss of our most admired and appreciated MP. We extend our sincere sympathies to his family and our prayers continue. Gord was always very interested in local history and we were honored to have him visit our Museum upon occasion. He was also a great supporter of our interpretive signs and local history projects. Despite his large constituency and the many demands placed upon him, he always remembered us and was constant in offering his support, especially in the recent initiative to revitalize our historical murals. With his special interest in hockey and the railway, we might very likely be considering a tribute to him in some way as dedications take place. We will move forward in our heritage work, inspired by his sincere interest in local history and his remarkable leadership and dedication! He will certainly be missed.

While Gord and I had many political differences, he represented the interests of those who voted for him very well. No one can deny his love and dedication to his Community.
As old schoolmates, we could “agree to disagree” with no hard feelings and always shared a few pleasant moments when our paths crossed.
I am so very saddened at his sudden passing.
My most sincere sympathy to his family.

I wanted to take a moment to offer my sincere condolences to Gord's family and friends. I knew Gord through my work with Parks Canada and the Rideau Canal. He was a man of integrity whose intentions of doing the right thing were unquestionable. I first met Gord in a meeting where he had brought together a small group to talk about how to help build a strong future for the Rideau Canal. Over a few years I had the privilege to watch him in action with his constituents listening to their concerns and focusing energy on finding positive solutions and outcomes. He was a catalyst for positive change, and although leaving this world way too soon, he has left a legacy that will be enduring.

I first met Gord when we were both targeting group tours to visit the 1000 Islands. We became instant good friends with a mission to see our region grow and prosper as the spectacular destination it is. He taught me so much, and throughout the years I watched as he transformed our region into more than I ever could have imagined. His energy, positive spirit and love for the 1000 Islands will forever be in my heart. I believe he will always be with us now, championing our efforts in spirit to continue to share the beauty of our homeland with visitors from around the world.
To Claudine, his boys, Jeff, Janice, THANK YOU for supporting Gord in his dream to be our MP...those days you held the fort while he changed our lives is truly appreciated. God Bless you as you walk with him in spirit now.
Much love,
Michelle, Lou and Sarah

It is with deepest sadness and condolences I write on this page for one of my dearest friend's Gord Brown.
It is funny when we meet and when we text or chat... months can go bye but we always picked up like it was yesterday. Thank-you Gord.
I don't let many people into my circle of friendship very easily... you pushed me in ways nobody had and gave me a safe reason to keep following my goals. You helped me but more than that, you shared your journey with me.
I hear your steps as I am writing... your hands in your pockets and a strong gait. Your smile, your ready to go! God is waiting for you. You are the leader today Gord! I am singing for you today: "Oh when the saints go marching in..."
I feel for your staff and send my deepest condolences to all. I am sure they are hurting greatly.
Gord had so many friend's which says so much about the kind of person he was. Steve, JP, Lisa, Jim, Kirsty my deepest condolences.
Claudine, Chance, Tristan, Jeff and Janice, my deepest sympathy. I can only image how difficult today will be. Gord's final farwell.

He beamed when he talked about you and couldn’t believe how tall and handsome you’d become - and smiled from ear to ear when he said it. Your dad loved you with all his energy. During the last election campaign, we made a car trip game with our young grandson "how many Gord Brown signs can we count between here and Gord's westerly boundary. As our count seemed to outnumber grandson's 2-1, we eventually had to tell him the signs were double-sided. Approaching the change in PC signs to the Kingston candidate, he continued the count and when we said it was not our candidate, he said proudly, "but he's OUR Gord Brown".
In this time of profound sadness, we have lost everyone's Gord Brown.
Sincere condolences to Gord's family and to all who knew and loved him.

To all the Brown Family and friends, my sincere condolences.
What a shock at first, and why now, so young, so full of life, and then great sadness for the loss of my long-time friend.
When Gord wasn't playing hockey in Ottawa, he was playing pickup hockey with me; winter, spring and summer, him wearing the Maple Leaf #27 and me, the bleu-blanc-rouge! He would have been on the ice with us last Thursday... So that night, the boys wore Gord's #27 on their helmets and before the game we gathered in a circle at centre ice around a ML sweater with #27 on the back; a few words was said and had a moment of silence in his honour, our teammate.
Gord, it is now your turn to save me a spot on your team up there!

He was hoping to have a trip to the UK in the not too distant future and was going to try and plan a day or two up here in the Highlands of Scotland. Sadly that will not now take place. In all the years that I worked with him and Jeff and their Dad I always thought of him as invincible. He was a good friend and was incredibly supportive of me when my Dad died. To Jeff ... words fail me and just like Gord - that doesn't happen very often. Everyone that knew him can feel proud for having known him.
