With heartfelt sympathy, Betty. After so many years together you are the one who probably knew Bill better than any of us. Now he is gone and the daily rhythm of your life has been thrown into a chaos that only time will be able to heal. Because of circumstance I was away for many years but I never thought of Bill or Betty… it was always Betty and Bill as a single unit. You and Bill were dedicated to each other and to Jas and Walter and his family, and recently Coco. Now everything has changed and you must somehow get through each day; somehow move forward until you come to a place of acceptance and peace, if that is possible. Bill told me how much he loved your summers together at the cottage each year and how much he looked forward to spending time there with you and Jas (and recently Coco). He spoke from his heart of spending time with Walter and fairly glowed with pleasure as he showed me photos and described how he and Walter spent time together fishing and how much that had meant to him. He couldn’t say enough about Jas and how well she was doing in life and in school and how proud he was of her. This same pride came through as he told of Walter’s success in life, both professionally and personally. Bill loved children and he loved animals, he was always ready to lend a helping hand and will be fondly remembered with kindness and respect by all who knew him. Life is short and there is so much we can never understand. Betty, please know that my thoughts are with you as you move through the healing process.

Billy was my friend as well as my uncle. He helped shape who I became and made my childhood happier than it would have been without him. Though we haven't spoken in many years he has always been and will always be in my heart. Rest in peace.
