I have struggled all week with thoughts of posting this condolence. My first cousin mike..and his wife Lynn that mike worshipped n loved. Lynn and I were in the same grade 8 class..what a character..Danny always reminds me of his mother. When I got to high school I was often thought of as in mikes shadow..mikes nickname was crow...so often I was called crow by people still in high school who were mikes friends..like I inherited his nick name.."crow"
He was an extremely fast sprinter..about 15 years ago he was at a funeral for my aunt Irene..n I said to him..you know mike there is something I always wanted to ask you....he said quickly to me..which surprised me..yes me too...you wanted to know if you were a faster runner then me...I said quickly to him..mike..I know you were a faster runner,..I wanted to know if you are going to be mayor of gananoque..because I know you would win if you ran..we both laughed..
so kirkby family..from my uncle Don's branch of the tree..live with the lessons mike and Lynn gave you..everyday..so sorry!

Sincere condolences from a guy some of Mike’s family probably never heard of, but who was once a close friend. In the 50s his family lived on Victoria Avenue and we would often walk home together from Linklater School. If his mother allowed him, he would walk on with me toward my house on Windsor Street and we would play in Machar’s Woods. The big pine tree we used to try to climb is still there, 65 years later. The last time I saw Mike was in Stonewater a couple of years ago and we had a long chat and I’m glad of that. Our sympathy to the whole family.
