I only met Edna once in 1977. We stayed with her at one of her cabins. I am now 60 years old and still remember a kind and sweet woman. She will be missed.

After stopping in at Willowbak Motorcourt on Friday and finding it all closed up, we were saddened to read of Edna's passing in February & that we had missed the service & opportunity to pay our last respects.
From our very first stay with her Edna became like a mother to us. She treated all of her guests that way.
Making sure you were comfortable, happy & always safe. " Don't forget to turn off your lights when you are in for the night." It made us feel so cared for & that each of the guest really was important.
Edna, we loved you & will miss you, but know you are so happy to be reunited with Murray.
May your soul be happy & rest in peace. We will think of you every time we see a chipmunk or a seagull that looks hungry.
Love in Memories,
Harold & Bonnie

I am so sad to learn of Edna's passing and so sorry to have missed her memorial service.
I had noticed the picture-perfect Willowbank little cottages - dollhouses almost - on the hill for years before I ever had the delight of staying in one and of meeting the wonderful Edna Latimer! Warm, welcoming, kind, she also was so respectful of one's privacy and quiet time. She was feisty and strong, had a great sense of humour and took such delight in her resident chipmunks, Harvey the seagull and her guests. As of the first day of my first stay, I smitten with Edna and Willowbank and returned at least a half-dozen times - yearly and sometimes twice yearly for my dose of quiet, solitude, bicycle riding and art making - from then on.
My heart aches to know that Edna is no longer with us ... but I agree with others who have said, that she will be so glad to see her beloved Murray again.
She talked too, so fondly of her time in Florida and her friends there, especially the two guys who helped her get settled in and made sure she had everything she needed while there (and who even offer to fly her down or to fly up and help her drive down once I believe?). So it is comforting to know that she was amongst those who loved and cared for her so much there when she had to leave us all.
With love and loss,
Sarah Balint.

Edna.........we miss the bright light and happiness you brought from Canada each year to all of us in Fort Lauderdale ........i was always excited to see your Cadillac arrive at the Seasons Condo Bldg. on the beach and amazed, as i unpacked the car, that your didn't bring the "kitchen sink" and of course 6 months later we had to leave room for the many bags of Florida oranges that you always took back and gifted to your friends in Canada...........you are missed.......... and i will try to feed your birds whenever i can.......and i hope that Harvey your Seagull and the Chipmunks will be taken care of by your good neighbors in Canada........Not sure, however, if i will ever get into watching the Bold and the Beautiful, your favorite Television show!!!!!
...........such good memories ...........i think i will have a Manhattan with Rye Whiskey in your honor at the Casablanca and for sure a glass of white wine at 5......loving thoughts of you will remain forever........thanks for your kindness and friendship......Jackson.........and Jon your computer inspiration

I was saddened to learn today of Edna's passing. I had the chance to meet Edna this past August when I was a guest at Willowbanks Motor Court. Her energy and enthusiasm for life was second only to her caring attitude towards her guests… she was more a hostess than a motel operator. Thank you Edna, it was a pleasure to meet you, and we had a weekend that will not be forgotten

After our Uncle Norm Martin passed a few years ago, we began a regular weekly call to cousin Edna as was his tradition each Sunday. We thoroughly enjoyed her antics, her e-mail jokes and messages and her approach to life. We are thankful for the many family stories that she shared while growing up with her cousins, Norm and Norval. Her love of card playing is certainly shared by our family and we will miss our times of playing euchre and 500 with her at Willowbank. We had the opportunity to visit Edna in Fort Lauderdale on a number of occasions and know that her friends there took great care of her. As she reminded us often, Edna had a great life and enjoyed it to the fullest!

We were blessed and fortunate to have such a kind, thoughtful and wonderful neighbour for many years. She toiled endlessly in her love for Willowbank Motor Court and was gracious to her many guests and friends. Her energy and endurance was to be admired and envied. Her love of animals was obvious by her generosity and devotion to her many chipmunk friends each individually recognizable and named who had access into her office by a partially open door to retrieve shelled nuts for winter storage to sustain them until she returned from Florida in the spring. You could not help but being inspired by this remarkable lady. We will miss her dearly.

Barry, Pat and Heather were very sad to hear of Aunt Edna's passing. We will miss listening to her stories she would share with us when we visited her at Willowbank. We know she will be happy to be reunited with Murray, as they were true soul mates. Every time we look at the painting of our dog she so kindly painted for us, we think of her. We will miss you.
Love, Barry, Pat and Heather

Edna was my dear next door neighbour for the last 9 years. She was one of the hardest working women I've ever known. She looked after the Motor Court by herself mostly for the past 10 years since Murray's passing. She baked as well and I'll miss her peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. Rest in peace dear Lady, and may the "dancing fools" waltz yet again, Love Forever and Always, Terry, Kelly,Buddy, and the girls. xo

I drive by everyday and see the cheery little cabins at Willowbank Motorcourt and think of dear Edna and her many friends who stayed and played cards and were entertained by Edna and Murray and the chipmunks! Edna was full of vitality with a wicked sense of humor whose generous spirit enchanted everyone who knocked on her door. Edna used to often say " I'm so lucky because I've had so many good friends and a great life!"
I know so many people will miss seeing that feisty little woman fighting the wind as she hung out the cabin sheets on her line everyday! I could go on about all the long list of things and moments I'll miss so I'll think of her often and Edna I hope you and your beloved Murray are dancing at all the dances in Heaven! xo
